Eligibility

Basic and Professional Qualification: Candidates must have passed Matriculation or equivalent examination. In addition, they must hold an ITI certificate in Electrician Trade or Wireman Trade issued by the National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT) or State Council for Vocational Training (SCVT). The ITI qualification must be obtained on or before the last date of online application, i.e., 06.05.2026.

Knowledge of Punjabi: Candidates must have passed Punjabi language at least at Matriculation level or its equivalent, on or before the last date of submission of online application.

Pay Scale

The pay scale for the post of Assistant Lineman is as per PSPCL Financial Circular No. 21/2022 dated 17.08.2022 and the 7th CPC Pay Matrix.

Minimum Basic Pay: Rs. 19,900/- per month.

During the probation period (3 years or as per Punjab Government instructions, whichever is more), newly appointed candidates will be paid the minimum admissible pay only. No Grade Pay, Dearness Allowance, annual increment, or other allowances will be paid during the probation period, except Travelling Allowance and medical reimbursement as per entitlement. In case of existing PSPCL employees, their pay shall be protected if the minimum admissible pay in the offer of appointment is lower than their current pay.


Selection Process & Exam Pattern

Mode of Selection: Selection will be done through a Computer Based Online Test (CBT) followed by document verification.

Minimum Qualifying Marks: Candidates must score at least 50% (i.e., 25 marks out of 50) in Part-I (Punjabi Language Test) to be considered for Part-II evaluation. Failure in Part-I will disqualify the candidate irrespective of Part-II performance.

For Part-II: General Category candidates: 25% minimum qualifying marks Reserve Category candidates: 20% minimum qualifying marks

Score Normalization: In case the examination is conducted in multiple shifts, normalization of marks will be applied to neutralize the effect of varying difficulty levels across shifts. The final merit list will be based on normalized marks.

Answer Key: After the online test, the question paper and answer key will be displayed on www.pspcl.in. Candidates may raise objections within the stipulated period. An expert committee will review objections and the final merit will be prepared accordingly.

Merit Preparation: The final merit list will be prepared based on marks obtained in Part-II only (for candidates who qualify Part-II). For Sports Person category candidates, the final merit will be prepared by the Office of Director Sports, Punjab, as per the Sports Gradation Policy.

Tie-breaking Rule: If two or more candidates secure equal marks in Part-II, the candidate older in age will be placed higher in merit.

Document Checking: Candidates who qualify in the online test will be called for document checking. Original documents along with one self-attested photocopy of each must be produced. Candidates must appear personally – no representative will be entertained.

Training: Selected candidates may be deputed for 6-month classroom and on-the-job training.
