NET/SLET/SET Exemption

Candidates who hold a Ph.D. degree awarded in accordance with UGC (M.Phil./Ph.D.) Regulations 2009 or 2016 are exempted from the NET/SLET/SET requirement. Candidates registered for Ph.D. prior to 11 July 2009 are also exempted, subject to fulfilling all of the following conditions: the Ph.D. was awarded in regular mode; the thesis was evaluated by at least two external examiners; an open viva voce was conducted; the candidate has published at least two research papers from Ph.D. work (at least one in a refereed journal); and the candidate has presented at least two papers in UGC/ICSSR/CSIR-sponsored conferences.

NET/SLET/SET is also not required for Master’s programmes in disciplines where no such test is conducted by UGC/CSIR.

Relaxation in Marks

A 5% relaxation (from 55% to 50%) at both Bachelor’s and Master’s level is available for SC/ST/SEBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates and Persons with Benchmark Disability (PwBD) in specified categories. Additionally, Ph.D. holders who obtained their degree prior to 19 September 1991 are eligible for a 5% relaxation under UGC-governed positions.

For Engineering and Technology disciplines, “Good Academic Record” means at least First Class (60% marks) or equivalent at either B.E./B.Tech. or M.E./M.Tech. level, with at least 55% at the other level, as per AICTE Regulations.

Candidates holding degrees from foreign universities must submit an Equivalence Certificate issued by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi. Knowledge of Gujarati is desirable for all positions.


Age & Relaxation: MSU Baroda Recruitment 2026

  1. Candidates applying for more than one post must submit a separate application and fee for each post.
  2. All eligibility conditions must be fulfilled as on the last date of application (30 April 2026). Qualifications or experience acquired after this date will not be considered.
  3. In-service candidates must upload a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their current employer. If not uploaded at the time of application, the NOC must be produced at Document Verification or Personal Interview without fail.
  4. Caste/category must be filled in the application form. Leaving it blank will result in summary rejection; it will not be assumed as UR.
