Eligibility: Assam Rifles Compassionate Ground Appointment 2026

Essential Qualifications (Post-wise):

Rifleman General Duty (Male & Female): 10th class pass from a recognised board. Computer Based Trade (Skill) Test not applicable. Age limit: 18–23 years.

Warrant Officer Cipher (Male only): 12th standard pass or equivalent from a recognised board/institution AND two years Industrial Training Institute certificate in Radio and Television or Electronics from a recognised institute; OR Bachelor’s Degree in Electronics or Information Technology. Computer Based Trade (Skill) Test will be assessed by the Computer Based Trade (Skill) Test Board. Age limit: 18–25 years.

Havildar Clerk (Male & Female): Intermediate or Senior Secondary School Certificate (10+2) examination from a recognised board/university or equivalent. Computer Based Trade (Skill) Test: English typing with minimum speed of 35 words per minute on computer OR Hindi typing with minimum speed of 30 words per minute on computer (time allowed: 10 minutes). Age limit: 18–25 years.

Rifleman Electrical Filter Signal – EFS (Male only): 10th class pass from a recognised board with Math and English as subjects AND Industrial Training Institute certificate in electrician trade from a recognised institute. Computer Based Trade (Skill) Test: Practical knowledge in AC & DC current, star-delta connections, electric fittings, rectification of faults in electric circuit, MCB, fuse, earthing eye, install & maintain wiring, control of lighting systems, handling of generators, transformers will be assessed by the Computer Based Trade (Skill) Test. Age limit: 18–23 years.

Rifleman Lineman Field – LMN (Male only): Same as EFS above. Computer Based Trade (Skill) Test: Practical knowledge in AC & DC current, star-delta connections, electric fittings, rectification of faults in electric circuit, MCB, fuse, earthing eye, install & maintain wiring, control of lighting systems, handling of generators, transformers will be assessed by the Computer Based Trade (Skill) Test. Age limit: 18–23 years.

Rifleman Armourer (Male only): 10th class pass from a recognised board. Computer Based Trade (Skill) Test: Basic aptitude (practical in nature) in the trade will be assessed by the Computer Based Trade (Skill) Test. Age limit: 18–23 years.

Rifleman Recovery Vehicle Mechanic (Male only): 10th class pass AND Industrial Training Institute (ITI) certificate in Recovery Vehicle Mechanic or Mechanic or Recovery Vehicle Operator from a recognised board or university. Computer Based Trade (Skill) Test: Practical knowledge to diagnose system malfunctions, isolate cause of defects/deficiencies, dismantle and reassemble equipment using technical manuals; inspect, repair and replace components; engines, transmissions and sub assemblies will be assessed by the Computer Based Trade (Skill) Test. Rifleman Electrician Mechanic Vehicle – EMV (Male only): 10th class pass from a recognised board with Industrial Training Institute certification in Motor Mechanic from a recognised institute. Computer Based Trade (Skill) Test: Practical knowledge in the trade including all types of electrical circuits in the motor vehs, dynamo and battery sys will be assessed by the Computer Based Trade (Skill) Test. Rifleman Metalsmith (Male only): 10th class pass from a recognised board AND Industrial Training Institute certificate in metalsmith trade from a recognised institute. Computer Based Trade (Skill) Test: Basic aptitude (practical in nature) in the trade will be assessed by the Computer Based Trade (Skill) Test. Age limit: 18–23 years.

Rifleman Mason (Male only): 10th class pass from a recognised board. Computer Based Trade (Skill) Test: Basic aptitude (practical in nature) in the trade will be assessed by the Computer Based Trade (Skill) Test. Age limit: 18–23 years.

Rifleman Engineer Equipment Mechanic (Male only): 10th class pass from a recognised board AND Industrial certificate in Engineer Equipment Mechanic trade from a recognised institute. Applicability (Who Can Apply): Assam Rifles Compassionate Ground Appointment 2026

Only one dependent family member of the following categories of Assam Rifles personnel is eligible:

8.1 Combatant AR Personnel – Dependents of those:

  • Killed in action or CI Operations
  • Died while in service (including death by suicide)
  • AR personnel medically boarded out under Para 26 of AR Rules (2010)

8.2 Permanent Civil Employees of AR – Dependents of those:

  • Died during service (including death by suicide)
  • Retired on medical grounds under Para 38 CCS (Pension Rules) 2021 / 1972 of EOP Rules (2022) or equivalent provisions
  • Retired on medical grounds under Para 4 of EOP Rules (2023) or equivalent provisions under previous regimes

  • Math List and Call for Training: Candidates qualifying in all mandatory tests (RFID Based Physical Standard Test, PET, Computer Based Trade (Skill) Test and Medical Examination Test) will be placed in Merit List depending on priorities and availabilities of vacancies.
  • Opportunity for Computer Based Trade (Skill) Test will be given to candidates for only one trade/post as applied.
