Eligibility Criteria: UKSSC Driver Recruitment 2026

Essential Qualifications:

Post A – Vehicle Driver (Vahaan Chalak):

  1. Passed Class 8 from a recognized educational institution.
  2. Must hold a valid heavy or light motor vehicle driving licence issued by the competent authority, obtained at least three years prior to the date of vacancy notification, with not less than 3 years of professional driving experience.

Note: For NCSC Department posts, candidates must hold a valid driving licence for both heavy and light motor vehicles.

Post B – Enforcement Driver (Pravartan Chalak):

  1. Passed Class 8 from a recognized educational institution.
  2. Must hold a valid driving licence for heavy and light transport vehicles under Rule 16 of the Motor Vehicles Act, obtained at least three years prior to the date the vacancy was notified to the employment office.

Desirable Qualifications:

For Vehicle Driver (Post A):

  1. High School certificate from UP Board or Uttarakhand Board of School Education and Examination.
  2. Knowledge of vehicle mechanics.
  3. Minimum 2 years of service in the Provincial Armed Constabulary.
  4. NCC ‘C’ or ‘B’ certificate.

For Enforcement Driver (Post B):

  1. High School certificate from UP Board or Uttarakhand Board.

Selection Process & Exam Pattern: UKSSC Driver Recruitment 2026

Mode of Selection:

Selection will be made through a competitive examination conducted by UKSSC in Offline or Online mode. The selection process consists of two stages:

  1. Written Examination (Objective Type)
  2. Driving Test (Practical)

The marks obtained in the Driving Test will be added to Written Exam marks for final merit determination.

Minimum Qualifying Marks:

  • General / OBC candidates: 45% in written examination.
  • SC/ST candidates: 35% in written examination.
  • Candidates who clear the written exam will be shortlisted (6 times the vacancies per post) for the Driving Test.
  • In the Driving Test, candidates from unreserved, EWS, OBC, SC, and ST categories must score a minimum of 50% marks.

Syllabus:

Unit I – Requisite Rules and Regulations for Driver (15 Marks): Motor Vehicles Act 1988 (as amended by MV Amendment Act 2019), Central Motor Vehicles Rules 1989, Motor Vehicles (Driving) Regulations 2017, Motor Vehicle Maintenance/Technical Knowledge, Health and Hygiene (effects of alcohol and tobacco; awareness about AIDS and other STDs).

Unit II – Current Affairs (05 Marks): National Current Affairs and General Knowledge.

Unit III – Uttarakhand General Knowledge (05 Marks): Geography, History, Art and Culture, Economy, Political Scenario, Tourism, Environment and Transportation.

Negative Marking: One-fourth (1/4) of marks allotted to a question will be deducted for each wrong answer.

Final Merit: Based on combined marks of Written Examination and Driving Test.

Tiebreaker: In case of equal marks, candidate with higher marks in Written Exam is ranked higher. If still equal, the older candidate is ranked higher.
