Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs), under the Ministry of Railways, Government of India, have released Centralised Employment Notice (CEN) No. 08/2025 for recruitment to Isolated Categories posts across various Zonal Railways and Production Units of Indian Railways. This recruitment drive is being conducted to fill vacancies in specialised categories such as Post Graduate Teachers (PGT), Trained Graduate Teachers (TGT), Junior Translator (Hindi), Scientific Supervisor, Chief Law Assistant, Cook, Lab Assistant and other isolated posts. The posts are regular and permanent in nature, carrying pay scales as per the 7th Central Pay Commission. The online application process will commence on 02 January 2026 and close on 31 January 2026.

🎓 Eligibility Criteria

Nationality
Candidate must be a citizen of India or fulfill nationality conditions as prescribed in the official notification.

Educational Qualification (Post-wise)

  • PGT:
    Postgraduate degree in the relevant subject with B.Ed. (where applicable)
  • TGT:
    Graduation in the relevant subject with B.Ed.
  • Junior Translator (Hindi):
    Master’s degree in Hindi/English with English/Hindi as compulsory or elective subject at graduation level, OR equivalent qualification
  • Scientific Supervisor / Chief Law Assistant:
    Relevant degree as prescribed in the notification
  • Cook / Lab Assistant:
    Matriculation / relevant qualification as notified

Candidates must ensure they fulfill post-specific qualification and experience, wherever required.

In addition to basic pay, employees are entitled to DA, HRA, TA and other Railway allowances.


🧠 Selection Process

The selection process for RRB Isolated Categories Recruitment 2025–26 will be conducted in multiple stages, depending on the nature of the post applied for. The Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) reserve the right to modify the stages as per administrative requirements.


Stage 1: Computer Based Test (CBT)
All eligible candidates will have to appear for an online Computer Based Test (CBT).

  • The CBT will consist of objective-type multiple choice questions (MCQs)
  • The question paper will be post-specific, testing professional knowledge along with general aptitude
  • Negative marking will be applicable (1/3rd mark deducted for each wrong answer)
  • Minimum qualifying marks in CBT:
    • General / EWS: 40%
    • OBC: 30%
    • SC / ST: 25%

The CBT score will be used for shortlisting candidates for the next stage(s).


Stage 2: Skill Test / Teaching Skill Test / Translation Test / Interview (Post-wise)

Depending on the post applied for, candidates shortlisted from CBT will be required to undergo one or more of the following:

  • Teaching Skill Test (for PGT & TGT posts)
    • Classroom teaching demonstration
    • Subject knowledge and teaching methodology assessment
  • Translation Test (for Junior Translator – Hindi)
    • Translation from Hindi to English and vice versa
    • Assessment of language proficiency and accuracy
  • Skill Test / Professional Test (for technical or specialised posts such as Scientific Supervisor, Lab Assistant, etc.)
  • Interview (if prescribed for specific posts)

👉 The Skill Test / Teaching Test / Translation Test is qualifying in nature, unless otherwise specified in the notification.


Stage 3: Document Verification (DV)
Candidates who qualify the applicable tests will be called for Document Verification, where original certificates will be verified, including:

  • Educational qualification certificates
  • Age proof
  • Caste / Category / EWS certificate (if applicable)
  • PwBD certificate (if applicable)
  • Experience certificate (where required)

Failure to produce valid documents will result in cancellation of candidature.


Stage 4: Medical Examination
Candidates who clear Document Verification must undergo a medical fitness test as per Railway Medical Standards applicable to the post.


Final Merit List

  • Final merit will be prepared RRB-wise and post-wise
  • Merit will be based on CBT marks, subject to qualifying the Skill Test / Interview (where applicable)
  • Tie-breaking will be done as per RRB rules (age, marks, etc.)
